  Community Outreach
We’re honored to have a community-minded staff, willing to give
back to the local area that has supported us since 1969
.

You’ll enjoy, as much as we do, seeing the personal energy created when someone learns something new and exciting, and gets a “hand-up” from someone with experience and knowledge to share.

If your organization is involved in training and mentoring, you already understand the feeling. It’s truly one of individual Independence and self-esteem. How can we share our knowledge and experience regarding Solar Energy (both Photovoltaic and Hot Water) to help your organization grow?

Training the Future Solar PV Installers - Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA. SECCO Solar PV Installers preparing an educational session for the
Dickinson College students who are
interested in Sustainable Living.

Solar Materials including photos of Solar Photovoltaic Projects and take-home brochures are prepared,
along with some healthy snacks!

Here’s our model to demonstrate the effect of Solar
PV Module tilt angle to the Sun. Students were also
shown the voltage created by a single Solar PV Panel.

Keeping the tilt perfectly aligned to match a 90 degree
angle to the Sun produces the maximum output of the
Solar PV Panel. Once installed on the roof, the
tilt-angle is “fixed”, or stationary.

Dickinson College, Center for Sustainable
Living – now there’s a commitment to greening our
present, as well as our future!

It all begins with “boots on the roof”. After a serious
safety training session and properly fitted Fall
Protection harnessing, Dickinson College students
were allowed on the roof, under the watchful eye of
NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy
Practitioners) Certified Solar PV Installer & Master
Elecrician, Matt Wilson.

This Solar PV System is mounted on a standing-seam metal roof, much like roofs installed on farm houses
and barns in Pennsylvania. Since the mounting clips fasten to the standing-seams, generous quantities
of clips are installed to stand up to the wind forces.

student install another Solar PV Module
mounting rail – How fair would it be if the
Teacher didn’t participate?

Dickinson College student completes the
installation of a Solar PV Module and demonstrates
the feeling of accomplishment and independence
we all get from learning a new skill!

How did she add value
to her future and ours at the same time?

Matt Wilson supervises installation of this Dickinson College student as she puts the finishing touches of fastening a mounting clip and squares-up the panels.

She quickly learns that installing panels with square edges on a roof takes time and care to make the
view of the Solar PV Array from the ground
pleasing to a critical eye.

Dickinson College students give Solar PV Hands-on training a "thumbs up", as they are carefully
supervised by Matt Wilson.

Dickinson College is a Leader among institutions in providing Sustainable Living education, including the Dickinson Farm where a wide variety of organic
farming is performed.
