1. After you have downloaded and installed your SECCOeco button software, plug your SECCOeco button into any free USB port on your computer.
2. Whenever you take a break from your computer and wish to use the SECCOeco button eco-mode, simply press the SECCOeco button and your PC will power down. (For further information about the type of power saving modes on your PC and the mode that SECCOeco button activates see our FAQ's section here)
3. To reactivate your computer simply press any key on the keyboard. In the case of some laptops you may need to briefly press the power button to reactivate from eco-mode.
4. When your PC reactivates from eco-mode you will be able to carry on working exactly where you left off.
If you have single or multi user set up on your PC your usual entry screen will appear like the computer screen shot below. If you use a password you will be asked to enter it.
5. Just before your desktop appears a SECCOeco button window appears, keeping you informed about your power and money savings to date. Simply press any key on your keyboard to close this screen.
Downloading & Using Your SECCOeco Button:
Install your SECCOeco button software and follow the on-screen instructions.
1. When the "Select Additional Tasks" box appears, ensure that you click "Create a desktop icon" and "Add application directory to a system path".
2. Near completion of "Download a SECCOeco Button" System Settings box will appear. You can use the default settings or configure the settings to best suit your system. The more accurately you configure these settings, the more accurate your CO2 and power savings records will be over time. Once configured, close the box by clicking the 'X' in the top right corner to complete installation.
You can always come back to this box again and make adjustments later by opening the SECCOeco button program from the green world SECCOeco button desktop icon or from the SECCOeco button program in your Start menu.
